Por Esto! reported on 21 September 2026 that the ferry Ultramar 1 struck Xelha, of Xcaret Xailing, that morning while manoeuvring to leave the Muelle Fiscal at Cozumel. Xelha was berthed at the next position, taking on fuel. Nobody was injured. The paper said maritime and port authorities would have to establish how the contact happened, and that it was the second collision between vessels of the two companies in less than a month.

Ultramar 1 was in position 6 and was departing. Xelha was in position 5. The impact was on the rear of Xelha, on the port side. The paper said the extent of the damage had not been established, and that it was not yet known whether either vessel would need repairs.

Ultramar 1 then continued to Playa del Carmen on one of the first scheduled departures that Monday, and the service continued. The paper said the sea was calm at Cozumel and at Playa del Carmen and that the weather was not adverse to navigation. It put the earlier incident on 30 August, near the same pier, and said no figure had been given for the cost of the damage.
