Notice 654710-2026, published on 23 September 2026, is Ekerö municipality’s procurement of the Ekeröleden ferry link. The municipality has run the ferry for 30 years, connecting Ekerö with the southern suburbs in Botkyrka municipality for several kinds of traffic, under an agreement with Trafikverket that ends on 30 June 2027 and cannot be extended.
The contract period in the notice is 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2031. The municipality has 12 months’ notice and plans to end the service two to three weeks after Förbifart E4 opens. The notice says that opening is planned for 2030, and that the time saving the ferry now offers paying customers will largely disappear once cars and buses can reach the southern suburbs and Södertörn through the new tunnel. It says both use and willingness to pay will fall sharply, and that even a small drop in the number of travellers would leave revenue unable to cover costs. The estimated value is SEK 120,000,000. The municipality plans to award the contract in December 2026. Tenders must be received at 00:00 (UTC+1) on 6 November 2026.
