DFDS is putting a second RoRo ship, ARK FUTURA, on its Damietta–Trieste service from 15 October 2026, doubling sailings to two a week each way. The route opened in November 2024 as DFDS's first direct freight link between Egypt and Italy and has grown strongly since. Main cargoes include fresh fruit and vegetables, textiles and industrial products. Ships will leave Damietta on Mondays and Fridays and Trieste on Mondays and Thursdays. Lars Hoffmann, DFDS's head of Mediterranean, called the expansion an important milestone and pointed to Egypt's growing role as a market and trade gateway.
