Macau Business reported on 17 October 2026 that passenger traffic through the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal and the Taipa Ferry Terminal totalled 7.36 million in 2025, according to Macau’s Marine and Water Bureau. That was an 8.2 per cent decline from 8.02 million in 2024, and nearly 68 per cent below the 22.94 million passengers recorded in 2017, the last full year before the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge opened.

The two terminals handled 53,445 ferry arrivals and departures in 2025, down 3.5 per cent year-on-year and 61.5 per cent from 138,886 in 2017. The Outer Harbour terminal handled 2.79 million passengers and 21,358 ferry movements. The Taipa Ferry Terminal handled 4.58 million passengers and 32,087 movements.

The latest timetable changes came in September. TurboJET reduced sailings between Sheung Wan and the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal to 20 in each direction a day, from as many as 22, and cut Sheung Wan–Taipa services to four a day from five. Cotai Water Jet continues to offer 21 sailings in each direction daily, of which three are designated as non-scheduled services. Scheduled connections between Macau’s two ferry terminals and Hong Kong International Airport have been suspended. TurboJET now offers only charter services on that route. Cotai Water Jet has suspended its service without announcing a date for its resumption.

A one-way daytime ticket on the bridge shuttle bus costs MOP65, and a night ticket costs MOP70. A daytime ferry ticket between Macau and Hong Kong costs HK194 (MOP200), rising to HK242 at night, roughly three to four times the bus fare. Passenger entries and exits through the bridge’s Macau checkpoint reached 27.96 million in 2025, up 6.8 per cent from the previous year and more than double the 13.3 million recorded in 2019, according to the Public Security Police Force. The bridge is 55 kilometres, and it cuts land transport time between Macau and Hong Kong to about 50 minutes.

Legislator Ella Lei Cheng I said the bridge introduced a new option for journeys to and from Hong Kong, and that ferry operators have reduced services because of resource constraints and other considerations.
