The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group said on 12 October 2026 that Scillonian IV was technically accepted on 7 October, after inspections and sea trials. The company said the step confirms that the vessel meets the shipbuilding contract and specification. Construction began at Piriou’s shipyard in Vietnam in June 2024.

Scillonian IV is scheduled to leave Ho Chi Minh City on 31 October, on a two-month journey via the Cape of Good Hope to Concarneau and then on to the UK. That is the route taken earlier this year by the freight vessel Menawethan. Before delivery, the ship is expected to spend around three weeks at Piriou’s yard in Concarneau, France, for a final survey. Technical staff and crew will continue preparations there, and further crew may join for parts of the voyage.

The company said planning for the introduction in March 2027 is progressing. The 2027 sailing schedule has been prepared and is in the final stages of approval before publication. Scillonian IV is part of a £40 million investment in transport to the Isles of Scilly. The 75-metre vessel, with capacity for up to 600 passengers, will replace Scillonian III in March 2027 on sailings between the islands and the mainland.
