Remontowa Shipbuilding laid the keel of a hybrid passenger and car ferry for Torghatten Midt AS on Thursday 15 October 2026. The yard said the ceremony starts construction of the hull, which will weigh about 1,000 tons when finished.

The vessel, yard number B622, is 83.5 metres long and will carry 249 passengers, 85 cars and 6 trucks at a time. Propulsion will be diesel-electric hybrid, with generator sets working with a battery system for peak-shaving. The design allows the energy storage to be expanded later so the ferry can operate fully electric. Delivery of B622/1 is planned for the second quarter of 2028. The yard said it has already handed over seven vessels with hybrid propulsion and battery power.

When Remontowa cut the first steel for B622 on 2 July 2026, it said the double-ended ferry is for the Dønna–Herøy route in Norway and that the building contract was signed on 16 January 2026. Remontowa Shipbuilding, 2 July 2026 (opens in a new tab).
