Promy24 reported on 23 October 2026, citing a press release from Unity Line, that Gdańsk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa S.A., part of the Remontowa Holding capital group, delivered the ferry Bursztyn Unity to Unity Line We Are POLSCA that day. It is the second of three vessels being built for the Polish shipowner. Bursztyn Unity was built as a sister ship to Jantar Unity, which has already entered regular service in the Baltic Sea. Once it joins the POLSCA Baltic Ferries fleet, it will become its twelfth vessel.
The ferry is approximately 195.6 metres long and 32.2 metres wide. It offers around 4,100 lane metres of cargo space and can accommodate approximately 400 passengers. It has a hybrid propulsion system combining four liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered engines with a battery system. Before the handover, the ferry completed sea trials conducted in early October.
Arkadiusz Marchewka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, said: "This is a great day for Polish ferry shipping, as we are taking delivery of our second vessel, which will join the largest ships in the Polish fleet." He also said: "Today, Bursztyn Unity is being handed over to the shipowner, and I am very pleased that, as the first vessel's construction comes to an end, work is simultaneously beginning on the next one — the third vessel, which will also be a sister ship to Jantar Unity and Bursztyn Unity."
Adam Ruszkowski, President of Remontowa Holding S.A., said: "A total of 860 kilometres of cables were used in the construction of the ferry, and more than 15,000 devices were installed. The monitoring system covers over 14,000 points, while the number of cable connections reaches 50,000. These figures are impressive to anyone who has worked on projects in the maritime industry. More than 10,000 workers were involved in building the vessel."
The vessel will be officially christened in Szczecin on 11 November, Poland's National Independence Day. Paweł Pluto-Prądzyński, President of POLSCA Baltic Ferries, said: "We are tentatively planning to open the ferry to visitors from 12 to 14 November. Advance registration will be available for 12 and 13 November to help reduce waiting times. 14 November will be an additional visiting date for those who do not register in advance." POLSCA Baltic Ferries will be responsible for the ferry's operational management. After the handover, Bursztyn Unity will be prepared to enter regular service on the Świnoujście–Ystad route.
The next ferry being built for the shipowner is Amber Unity. Delivery of that vessel is scheduled for 2029.
