Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd said on 8 October 2026 that Ardrossan ferry terminal has been handed back to CalMac after a programme of essential repair and maintenance. Contractor George Leslie Limited installed 11 new berthing fenders at the Arran Berth.
CMAL is considering one additional fender at the eastern end of Winton Pier, after a suggestion from CalMac. If that goes ahead, the work will be planned with CalMac to avoid disruption. Spare fenders are held on site.
Other work included temporary inspection and work platforms on the Arran Berth linkspan dolphins, replacement of steelwork between the linkspan and the shore, resurfacing of stone steps, repair and repainting of the passenger-access lifting frame, automatic doors at the terminal entrance and ferry embarkation points, cleaning of the terminal roof and exterior, and repainted road markings. The temporary platforms will stay while more permanent structures are prepared.
CMAL said the repairs are meant to support the port's continued operation while proposals for a longer-term redevelopment are developed. The first public engagement events are in Brodick on 27 October and in Ardrossan on 28 October 2026.
