The Alaska Marine Highway System posted a service notice on 2 November 2026 that M/V Columbia is out of service in Ketchikan because of required repairs on its port main engine. After a technical inspection, replacement engine components, a cylinder liner and a piston, are required. The system said it has secured the spare parts, and that a Wärtsilä technician will be in Ketchikan on Thursday to perform the repairs with the engineering crew.

Columbia is scheduled to return to regular revenue service on Sunday, 8 November 2026, departing northbound from Ketchikan. The notice says that resumption places the vessel back on its standard northbound schedule. Passengers already on board in Ketchikan may remain on board. Passengers who leave and make other arrangements can have tickets reimbursed at the Ketchikan terminal, which will also arrange for unaccompanied vehicles left in the system’s care.
