Shippax reported on 1 November 2026 that China’s Hoiyu International Group Ltd. has sold ELPIS to Singapore-based cash buyer GR Shipping Pte. Ltd. Over the past two months GR Shipping has acquired three ships, including the 1976-built RoPax ferry ELPIS. Two of those three ships have arrived in Bangladesh for scrapping. ELPIS, now renamed PISA, is still in Penang, Malaysia.

Moby Lines sold the ferry, which had sailed as MOBY OTTA, to Hoiyu in October 2025. Hoiyu converted the vehicle decks for a casino ship. ELPIS began casino mini-cruises from Penang in March 2026 under the brand Elpis Cruise. Shippax reported that the operation ceased in mid-October.

Sister ship MOBY DREA, delivered in 1975 as TOR BRITANNIA, has been in cold lay-up in Crotone since September 2025. Shippax reported that Turkish authorities blocked a sale for scrapping because the ship contains asbestos, and that Croatian authorities later refused a berth for the asbestos to be removed. ELPIS was delivered in 1976 as TOR SCANDINAVIA, after Swedish asbestos rules that took effect in October 1975.
