BC Ferries said on 26 October 2026 that its board has initiated a leadership transition and launched a Revitalization Review. The board appointed vice-president of strategy and planning Brian Anderson interim chief executive officer, effective immediately. Executive vice-president and chief financial officer Dallyn Willis will assume added responsibility for strategy and planning and will lead the review, with oversight from the board.

The board said the review is to unlock efficient and creative solutions within BC Ferries to address growing demands on the ferry system and deliver safe, reliable services for customers and coastal communities. The review will define new ways to optimize the system and improve how BC Ferries delivers services.

Under the Coastal Ferry Act, BC Ferries undergoes a regulatory review and contract discussions every four years to set limits on fares and establish required service levels. For Performance Term 7, the board said it is committed to bringing innovative solutions to service obligations and to working with the incoming provincial government, the BC Ferry Authority and BC Ferries' Commissioner so the system is reliable, safe and sustainable.

The board thanked outgoing chief executive Nicolas Jimenez and wished him success in his future endeavours. A formal search for a permanent successor will follow the review.
